The Canon MVX2i is a powerful yet compact video camcorder. Thanks to the advanced rotating grip belt, it is easy to hold and easy to use. The MVX2i contains Super Night Mode technology so you can capture colour images in the dark of night. The camcorder's Super Night LED also fills out shadows and brings extra clarity to night time images. It can also reduce red-eye when shooting still images with the auto-flash.With the push of a button, the MVX2i turns into a high-quality still digital camera providing sharp images on an SD card. Its built-in, automatic pop-up flash works simultaneously with the continuous-shooting function.

The MVX2i has a 10x optical zoom supplemented by a 200x digital zoom. Its Optical Image Stabilizer takes the jitter out of hand-held movie-making and still images to provide smooth video images and clear still images.

Thanks to its USB and IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface, the camcorder can connect to just about any Windows or Macintosh computer and transfer movie images from the Mini DV tape to the PC. However, the user does not need a computer to print pictures. The camcorder connects directly to the Canon CP10, CP100, or Bubble Jet Direct printers.
The MVX2i lets users decorate their movies with animated images provided with the SD memory card and then record them on a tape. The card offers twelve different animations.

For Windows XP users: The Canon MVX2i offers the next step in Instant Messaging. DV Messenger is two-way communication software combining Windows® Messenger (Microsoft® Windows® XP standard) and Canon's own network solution. It provides two-way (peer-to-peer) communication enabling audio and video data exchange — live or recorded — over the Internet. You can control your Canon camcorder locally or remotely. And you can call up files and transfer them from your computer. Finally, you can create a video conference which turns your MVX2i into a sophisticated webcam.
